City of Ruins

I recently received an e-mail from an LV Alum from my first two years and the program citing the song "City of Ruins" by Bruce Springsteen. I've posted the lyrics below for all of you. Feel free to use them as a personal reflection starter or maybe even as a part of a community prayer. I hope you find them useful.

Theres a blood red circle
On the cold dark ground
And the rain is falling down
The church doors blown open
I can hear the organs song
But the congregations gone

My city of ruins
My city of ruins

Now the sweet veils of mercy
Drift through the evening trees
Young men on the corner
Like scattered leaves
The boarded up windows
The hustlers and thieves
While my brothers down on his knees

My city of ruins
My city of ruins

Come on rise up!
Come on rise up!

Now theres tears on the pillow
Darling where we slept
And you took my heart when you left
Without your sweet kiss
My soul is lost, my friend
Now tell me how do I begin again?

My citys in ruins
My citys in ruins

Now with these hands
I pray lord
With these hands
For the strength lord
With these hands
For the faith lord
With these hands
I pray lord
With these hands
For the strength lord
With these hands
For the faith lord
With these hands

Come on rise up!
Come on rise up!
Rise up

LV Midyear Photos

Hello everybody. Here's some pics from midyear (mainly Sunday night). Sorry it took so long but I used the old fashioned 35mm film and had to wait for it to get developed. And there are more pics on my facebook page for anyone who uses that. Oh sorry some of them aren't up right. I couldn't figure it out and ran out of time. Well enjoy and have a great day!!!

Day of Health

This past weekend we had a day full of yoga and health tips. Deanna, (some of you may know her from those early mornings at orientation) spent the day with us helping us relax and work muscles that we didn't know we had. What a great day!

Does anyone else's back hurt?

Ahhhh, Midyear.

I hope everyone traveled safely back from Midyear, despite the entertaining weather in the Midwest.

Thank you all for your presence, it was a joy to spend time with each and everyone of you. Sometimes memories are all that we can take with us down the changing path of life. You helped me make some great one's this weekend.

I will post a link to the pictures I took this weekend as well as the movie I recorded. Currently I am looking at Webshots but if anyone knows a better place to share pictures let me know.

Here's one I think deserves to immortalized in the blog. Have a great week everyone.

Joel
